Client-to-agent linking

Client-to-agent linking is the ATO process through which a client nominates their registered tax agent or BAS agent in the ATO's online services, so the agent can act for them and see their ATO information. Businesses nominate through their online services, and the ATO provides separate arrangements for individuals and other entities, with nominations confirmed in ATO systems. Until the client has linked the agent, the agent generally cannot lodge for the client or access their account in those services. A practice should confirm a link before work starts and tell the client what to do if it is not showing, because a missing link blocks lodgment and data access.
