Tax time
Tax time is the period after the end of the financial year on 30 June when most individuals lodge their income tax returns. The ATO publishes a tax time page for tax professionals each year that sets out key changes, what to do before lodging, and resources, and the registered agent lodgment program sets the due dates for agents' clients. For a practice, tax time is the busiest stretch of the year, so it plans the work early: gathering client documents, checking pre-filled data, confirming client-to-agent links and prioritising clients whose dates are earliest. Preparation done before July makes the later weeks more manageable.
