Instalment notice

An instalment notice is the ATO document that tells an entity the amount or rate it should report and pay for GST instalments or PAYG instalments for a period. Entities that use a notice complete only the labels on it, instead of working out those amounts from their records, which makes them simpler to lodge. The ATO issues notices automatically for eligible entities, and agents can see them in the online services for agents. An entity that expects its income or GST to differ materially can still vary the instalment. Because the notice reflects the ATO's records at the time, a practice should check that the details still match the client's current circumstances.
