GST annual return
A GST annual return is a once-a-year return used by some GST-registered entities in place of a periodic business activity statement. It is for entities that the ATO allows to report GST annually, for example some small businesses and organisations that account for GST on an annual basis, and it is lodged with the entity's income tax return or on its own. Not every GST-registered business can use it; most report on a monthly or quarterly BAS. Because eligibility depends on the entity type and the election made, the practice should confirm the client's actual reporting cycle with the ATO's records before relying on this option.
