PAYG withholding annual report

A PAYG withholding annual report is a yearly report to the ATO of amounts a payer withheld from payments that are not already reported through Single Touch Payroll. Examples the ATO describes include certain payments to people who did not quote an ABN and some payments to contractors and directors. The report lists the payee and the amounts, and the payer gives the payee a payment summary so they can include it in their own return. Employers who report all wages through STP generally do not need this report for those wages. The ATO page explains which payments need which report, and a practice should check the client's payments against it before the due date.
