Fedix for SMSF accountants
FediPilot does the tax return itself in LodgeiT or Xero Tax: it reads the client's documents and prepares the workpapers, and the accountant takes a quick look before it is lodged. Fedix Practice Manager covers onboarding, engagement, quotes, invoices, documents, e-signatures, tax-return management, notes and jobs. MyLedger prepares the ledger, working papers and Special Purpose Financial Reports. Neither Practice Manager nor MyLedger lodges; nothing is lodged without the accountant's approval.
An SMSF practice keeps the fund's books, allocates results to members, prepares the year-end papers and passes them to the auditor. The jobs below cover the preparation side.
The jobs and the features that cover them
Keep a ledger for each fund
- Client ledgers list: List, search and open your clients' ledgers, including clients brought across from Fedix, and set the client you are working on.
- Add and manage client ledgers: Create a client ledger directly in MyLedger, update its details and remove it when it is no longer needed.
Allocate the result to members
- SMSF member allocation: Allocate the fund's result across members, with checks including pension minimums.
Prepare the year-end working papers
- Working papers hub: One tabbed page per client for year-end schedules: checklist, GST, tax return labels, depreciation, amortisation, Division 7A, FBT, investment income, distributions, franking, dividends, SMSF and more.
- Year-end tax checklist: An entity-specific tax checklist for each year, with attachments, reset and a follow-up email to the client.
- Investment income register: A register of interest, dividends and distributions for the tax return's investment income schedule.
Request missing documents and track the file
- Client request pack: Save a preparation summary and preview, edit and send the email asking the client for exactly what is missing for their individual return.
- Jobs board: A kanban board and list of every job in the practice, with filters and a workflow stage for each job.
What stays with the accountant
- The accountant reviews every allocation and working paper; AI output is always paired with accountant review.
- The fund's auditor does the audit; Fedix does not audit and does not replace the auditor's work.
- Nothing is lodged by Practice Manager or MyLedger; the accountant approves any filing step.
What Fedix does not do
- Practice Manager and MyLedger do not lodge: lodgement stays in the lodgement software your practice chooses, and nothing is lodged without the accountant's approval.
- Fedix is software, not a registered tax agent: the registered agent reviews and lodges.
- FediPilot runs on the practice's own ChatGPT or Claude account, which Fedix does not supply.
- Fedix does not give investment or compliance advice to a fund or its trustees.
