Fedix for BAS agents and bookkeepers

FediPilot does the tax return itself in LodgeiT or Xero Tax: it reads the client's documents and prepares the workpapers, and the accountant takes a quick look before it is lodged. Fedix Practice Manager covers onboarding, engagement, quotes, invoices, documents, e-signatures, tax-return management, notes and jobs. MyLedger prepares the ledger, working papers and Special Purpose Financial Reports. Neither Practice Manager nor MyLedger lodges; nothing is lodged without the accountant's approval.

A BAS agent or bookkeeper repeats the same cycle for every client: get the records, reconcile, work out GST, prepare the activity statement and have it approved. The jobs below follow that cycle.

The jobs and the features that cover them

Reconcile the ledger and clean up GST coding

  • GST reconciliation: Compare the GST in the ledger with the BAS figures per quarter and review the differences.
  • Consistent GST treatment: Rules, zero-rating and learned patterns keep GST treatment consistent across similar transactions.
  • GST account clean-up: Detect GST postings spread across several accounts and consolidate them.

Work out the BAS figures and keep the worksheet

  • BAS summary: See the BAS labels for a period, such as G1, 1A, 1B, W1 and W2, with drill-down to the transactions behind each figure.
  • GST calculation worksheet: A GST calculation worksheet with manual inputs, following the ATO worksheet.
  • PAYG withholding from payroll journals: Wages and PAYG withheld (W1 and W2) come from the client's payroll journals rather than being retyped.

Fill the BAS in your lodgement software

  • Fill BAS in LodgeiT: Fill a BAS form in LodgeiT using the label codes and read it back.
  • BAS and IAS tracking: Track upcoming BAS and IAS obligations as workflow rows assigned to accountants, with a dashboard widget.

Send the BAS to the client for approval

What stays with the accountant

  • The BAS agent checks the figures and the GST treatment against the records before anything is lodged.
  • The client approves the BAS before it goes; FediPilot stops before lodgement in LodgeiT.
  • Unusual items are listed for the agent to decide; Fedix does not settle them.

What Fedix does not do

  • Practice Manager and MyLedger do not lodge: lodgement stays in the lodgement software your practice chooses, and nothing is lodged without the accountant's approval.
  • Fedix is software, not a registered tax agent: the registered agent reviews and lodges.
  • FediPilot runs on the practice's own ChatGPT or Claude account, which Fedix does not supply.
  • Fedix does not register you as a BAS agent or change what your registration allows.
