Fedix vs Karbon
FediPilot does the tax return itself in LodgeiT or Xero Tax: it reads the client's documents and prepares the workpapers, and the accountant takes a quick look before it is lodged. Fedix Practice Manager covers onboarding, engagement, quotes, invoices, documents, e-signatures, tax-return management, notes and jobs. MyLedger prepares the ledger, working papers and Special Purpose Financial Reports. Neither Practice Manager nor MyLedger lodges; nothing is lodged without the accountant's approval.

Where it is the better fit: If your main need is team workflow, shared email and client communication in a practice that already has its tax software, Karbon is focused on that.
What Fedix does
Fedix Practice Manager covers onboarding, engagement, quotes, invoices, documents, e-signatures, tax-return management, notes and jobs. FediPilot prepares the workpapers and does the tax return itself in LodgeiT or Xero Tax, with an accountant's quick look before it is lodged. MyLedger prepares the ledger, working papers and Special Purpose Financial Reports.
Where Fedix differs
Karbon's page describes workflow, email, a client portal and billing, and does not say it prepares or lodges tax returns. Fedix adds the preparation work across a client's documents and the return itself, inside your tax software.
What Fedix does not do
- Practice Manager and MyLedger do not lodge: lodgement stays in the lodgement software your practice chooses, and nothing is lodged without the accountant's approval.
- Fedix is software, not a registered tax agent: the registered agent reviews and lodges.
- This page does not claim Fedix matches Karbon's shared-email handling feature for feature; check that against your own workflow.
- FediPilot runs on the practice's own ChatGPT or Claude account, which Fedix does not supply.
Migration notes
- Client lists and records can come in by CSV or Excel file; check what you export from Karbon against what Fedix needs before you start.
- Onboarding includes a migration and system-connections session in week one, and you can run Karbon beside Fedix while you decide.
- Work in progress, templates and email history are set up again in Fedix rather than copied across automatically.
