Fedix vs Ignition
FediPilot does the tax return itself in LodgeiT or Xero Tax: it reads the client's documents and prepares the workpapers, and the accountant takes a quick look before it is lodged. Fedix Practice Manager covers onboarding, engagement, quotes, invoices, documents, e-signatures, tax-return management, notes and jobs. MyLedger prepares the ledger, working papers and Special Purpose Financial Reports. Neither Practice Manager nor MyLedger lodges; nothing is lodged without the accountant's approval.
What Ignition does
Ignition is software for proposals, engagement letters, billing and payments. Its own page also shows integrations with Xero, Karbon and Xero Practice Manager.

Where it is the better fit: If your main need is winning work with proposals and engagement letters and collecting payment automatically, Ignition is built for that.
What Fedix does
Fedix Practice Manager covers onboarding, engagement, quotes, invoices, documents and e-signatures, as well as tax-return management, notes and jobs. FediPilot prepares the workpapers and does the tax return itself in LodgeiT or Xero Tax, with an accountant's quick look before it is lodged.
Where Fedix differs
Ignition's page is about winning work and getting paid. Fedix covers that part of the practice too, and goes on to the preparation and the return itself. The two can sit side by side in one practice.
What Fedix does not do
- Practice Manager and MyLedger do not lodge: lodgement stays in the lodgement software your practice chooses, and nothing is lodged without the accountant's approval.
- Fedix is software, not a registered tax agent: the registered agent reviews and lodges.
- Fedix does not publish a feature-by-feature match for Ignition's automatic billing and payment collection; check the features pages against your own billing process.
- Ignition's page does not say whether it prepares or lodges tax returns, so this page makes no statement either way.
Migration notes
- Active engagements and billing set-ups are re-created in Fedix; they are not copied across automatically.
- Client lists can come in by CSV or Excel file; onboarding includes a migration and system-connections session in week one.
- Because the two do overlapping work, many practices run them side by side first and move over one engagement cycle at a time.
